® Communications Logic Workshop Case Studies

  NEW!
Applying Communications Logic Across One Function, 3 Continents
  NEW!
A Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company's Global Strategic Sourcing leaders wanted their teams to present well-structured recommendations and points of view, not just raw data. And they wanted the entire group located on three continents to produce consistently high-quality documents.

To meet this need, we trained all 100+ people in the US, UK and Latin America to use Communications Logic when constructing documents, and give the Directors extra training to serve as coaches. Working in small groups, participants applied Communications Logic to their own documents in progress.  The Directors joined their groups in critiquing each person's structure solution. Every participant also met individually with the instructor to review communications issues.

The program was very well received across the company.  One region's leader reports that the training "gave my team members a new perspective on how to effectively communicate with their stakeholders...[and] helped me to reach a higher level in the way I sell my ideas and projects.  Communications Logic has been successfully applied and is making the difference."

Adopting Communications Logic as Firm Standard
A fast-growing professional services firm
with multiple practices realized the need for continuous improvement in its client communications. The aim? A more sophisticated, professional, organized and faster way to create client documents.  The firm has adopted Communications Logic as its new standard and is training professional staff at all levels.  Participants say: "Easy to follow flow and thought process."  "[Sessions] forced me to challenge the hypothesis that I developed along with the supporting story lines."  "Good reminder of clear, concise communications with a point to make."

Creating Tighter Documents, Better Meetings
A Fortune 100 company’s Strategic Planning and M&A groups
were not communicating as effectively as they would have liked.  Meetings with senior management ran too long.  The teams did not present their recommendations until late in the meetings.  Their reports included unnecessary information that distracted their audiences from important messages.  The solution was for Meachin Communications to lead an intensive Communications Logic Workshop for key staff.  We delivered training on how to synthesize messages from data and turn facts into recommendations for action.  In addition, we showed them how to transform a logical structure into a concise, compelling document. As one strategic planner said, The example with a real document was outstanding really crystallized everything.”

® Total Immersion (Logic + Presentation Skills) Workshop Case Studies

Upgrading Both Content and Delivery
A growing investment bank wanted every presentation
to reflect the firms innovative thinking and high-energy approach to doing business.  But bank communications did not meet our clients high standards.  Written documents did not demonstrate rigorous logic.  Incorrect grammar and usage raised doubts about the firm’s attention to detail.  Stand-up presentations lacked excitement.  This investment bank turned to Meachin Communications for Total Immersion training.  First, we provided the team with a framework for structuring documents logically and guidelines for clear, correct writing.  Then we focused on presentation skills, so that the bankers could deliver their messages with appropriate energy and enthusiasm for each audience.  Following the workshop, the head of the firm reported, “You should be proud to know that we have IMMEDIATELY implemented your concepts and structure from last week, so I think you’ll be proud of your pupils!”

Turning Tech Experts Into Communicators
At a major management consulting firm, our client’s project team members
were technology experts, but had difficulty conveying messages to their client simply and directly.  Meachin Communications addressed both message structure and presentation style in a two-day Total Immersion Workshop.

On Day 1, the consultants developed lean, persuasive logical structures for their real-life client
  documents

On Day 2, they used the same material to practice presenting with natural ease and authority.
We videotaped the sessions and reviewed each participant’s tape with him or her individually

One participant commented, “Very effective class, where lessons can be directly applied to consulting day-to-day interactions.”

Custom Program Case Study

Building Better Internal Relationships

A global industrial leader’s internal auditors/consultants wanted to improve relationships and levels of cooperation with their own clients. Meachin Communications created a custom program that focused on managing potentially difficult relationships. One participant commented, “Ask the acid test question 'Would you recommend this training to your colleagues?’ The answer is absolutely!”

THE WRITTEN WORD

 ® Editing Case Study

Refining Proposals

At a top consultancy, a proposal team needed professional writing and editing skills to create an important proposal in a very short time.  We worked with the team to structure, draft and refine a differentiated response to their prospect’s request.  The consultants were able to spend more time thinking and less time writing.  The team leader said, “The client was extremely happy with the end product. A great example of how much value a strong editor adds to the consulting process.”
